Energy Lighting Services will open a second business office in Sacramento California. Jason Duncan, CEO of Energy Lighting Services (ELS) is partnering with fellow business owner Lucas Robinson for the expansion. Robinson founded and currently runs an ecommerce business called Web Life Stores.

In early 2018, Duncan and Robinson met through a mutual connection and began meeting monthly to discuss a possible partnership.  Fred Butson, who runs the day-to-day operations of Robinson’s management team, will serve as President of the new Sacramento office. We sat down with him to get some more details on how this partnership came to be and where it is going next.

Hi Fred! Thanks for taking the time to tell us about this exciting new expansion. Before we get into that however, can you first just tell us a little about yourself?

Hi! It’s great to be here. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2003. I have helped build an E-commerce management team over the past three years and was recently named President of this company. My wife and I have been married for almost 17 years and have five children together between the ages of five and 14. In my free time, I am a singer, songwriter, and love to get outdoors to hike, camp and play golf.

What events lead to you becoming president of ELS Sacramento?

It all started when Jason met with Lucas through a mutual connection. Lucas owns an Ecommerce business called Web Life Stores and I currently run the day-to-day operations of Lucas’ management team. As Jason and Lucas were meeting monthly to discuss and eventually plan this new partnership, they decided that having me serve as President made the most sense. I am passionate about creating opportunities for people in my community to not only have a lucrative income but to join a family that is committed to see one another thrive, so I’m excited to help them kick things off here.

What potential do you see for ELS in the Sacramento Market?

Sacramento is a booming city with the highest influx of Bay Area businesses and individuals.  Sacramento businesses are looking for ways to not only save money, but to reinvest that savings into growing opportunities.  I believe that ELS will not only thrive as a business here in Sacramento but bring greater opportunities for Environmental Stewardship.

ELS is known for their world-class service and support, and I am honored to be a part of that legacy.  It is my goal to bring the same level of service and success to this region.  It’s exciting to provide someone with not only a solution, but an opportunity to take savings and invest into areas that really matter.

Here at ELS Hendersonville, we work hard to build and maintain a strong company culture. How do you plan to build and maintain this kind of company culture in Sacramento?

I firmly believe that whatever is on the inside will eventually come out.  A company’s ability to create a business plan is the first step toward success.  However, eventually the culture will dictate how successful that company will be. The culture of a company is the life blood and therefore is essential to get right.  Building that culture has little to do with the extras that we provide our team.  It has everything to do with building trust, setting great expectations and ultimately following through on them.

At ELS, our desire to promote stewardship and better the lives of those around us is ultimately the driving force behind our business. How would you define good stewardship?

To be a good steward is to take ownership and care for that which has been given to you.  However, to truly understand stewardship you must be willing to sacrifice for a greater good.  It’s one thing to take care of something that will bring you personal joy or value, it’s another thing to invest in something you will never benefit from.

Thanks for taking the time to speak with us! We are very excited to see where you take this expansion.
