Vicky Smith knew she needed new lighting for her building, but what she got was worth far more.
Smith is the Administrator for Cumberland View Towers, an 11-story high-rise, 150 apartment, HUD subsidy facility for residents 62 years and older. She needed to replace all the interior and exterior lighting on the property with energy efficient LED lights and fixtures.
Her goal was simple.
“We needed to secure capital improvements [and] a complete lighting upgrade for security as well as energy savings” she said.
Smith hired Energy Lighting Services to complete this project at the recommendation of one of her board members, Mr. Greg Foreman. With over 40-year of experience in management, she was no stranger to stressful projects.
“Unfortunately, not all vendors I’ve worked with have been dependable, honest, displayed integrity, or professionalism,” she said.
Energy Lighting Services was different.
“They came in, did the project within a few weeks…cleaned-up and kept me in the loop” she said.
Smith appreciated not having to micro-manage the ELS team. Instead, she felt that they always kept her informed and were very personable. She compared it to being treated like family.
After the project was complete, Smith couldn’t help but notice a drastic improvement in how staff and residences felt in her facility.
“Security is better, and our residents can see” she said. “Consequently, our savings goals were met, which is indicative in reduced electric bills, [and] our maintenance team is not changing light bulbs on a daily basis!”
Smith says that all of Cumberland’s energy savings are allocated to improve the facility for residents. Because of the project, they were able to budget new windows and start plans for a new roof. In addition to all of that, Smith says the peace of mind that comes with having a secure environment for residents, guests and employees is priceless.
Smith says that she would recommend Energy Lighting Services to her friends and colleagues in a heart-beat.
“Energy Lighting [Services] is one of the best I’ve ever worked with.”
